Anyone have any experience with them?

Someone told me they were just overpriced hatchery chicks- but the same person also spouts a lot of BS, so I dunno. I've been looking for some Lakenvelders, haven't been able to find anything other then the usual.

There is no such thing as a "show quality" chick (you have to wait until the bird is reaching maturity to determine unless there are obvious DQ's or faults). If you're looking to purchase show quality birds, you need to go with a breeder not a hatchery. You will not get a show quality bird from a hatchery. With that said, even if you purchase from a breeder, it is not a guarantee you'll end up with a SQ bird.

As others have said before, Stromberg's gets their show lines from Duane Urch. From what I've heard, his stock is very, VERY good and you will be getting a good start with the breed.

Duane Urch supplies for Stromberg's breeder program. I tried to order black wyandottes, but when I talked to Mr. Urch, he didn't have wyandottes in black, blue, or buff. I ended up ordering partridge wyandottes and filling the rest of the order of 25 with buckeyes. Not really what I wanted but he has wonderful quality birds and I've been able to sell the partridge chicks before they've arrived just because they came from the Urch line.
