strong smelling urine from cat

we have a male cat that has a smell that makes us cry and almost jump out the dang widow. no lie, it wakes me up at night. it is not all the time and i also notice he does not cover it up when goes. i have had at least one cat my whole life and have never had this before. there is no female in heat or even breedable for that matter. any ideas before i take him to the vet?

he is fixed right, if he is he probably has a tract infection, takin' him in is the best bet

go and have him fixed or he will mark everything in sight with that smell. he is marking his space. he will not stop till he is fixed!

i have to agree with the urinary tract infection. they will give him an antibiotic called amoxicillian. You may also want to put him on a special cat food for urinary tract infections to save you alot of money in the future. I buy purina one urinary tract. works great on my cat.

i guess a vet is the best bet. i dought he will drink cranberry juice lol.

my vet will just sell me amoxicillian for $10 a bottle. I would see if they will do that for you or else your probably looking at $60-$80 for a vet visit

another sign of a tract infection is he will use his litter box more often, he will also have some blood in his urine, & he may even let out crys.

peta has some kind of mobile vet bus thing they roll around town in. i get our frontline super cheap from them and i know they do discount spay/neuter but i am not sure if they have amoxicillian. i'll call the vet in the a.m. and find out how to get him to drink cranberry jui.....i mean make him an appointment.
