My girls must be getting their calcium. One just laid an egg on a flat piece of plastic four feet off the ground. It rolled off and hit the dirt without breaking!

My high roost bar is about 5 feet up and one of mine dropped an egg out and it didn't break. I couldn't believe it.

Mine must be good on calcium too.

It's pretty amazing isn't it. Last week I found an egg hiding in a corner of the coop. I wasn't sure if it was okay so I wasn't going to eat it. As I walked out of the coop, I threw the egg towards my compost pile, which is at least 40' from the coop. Later that evening, I walked past the compost pile and discovered the egg laying on the compost pile unbroken. I couldn't believe it.

IMO I don't think farm eggs have an extra thick shell, but rather grocery store eggs have an shell that is thinner than nature intended.
