Hello,

I found this egg cracked this morning with no signs of movement or pipping the night before. I thought it was another egg that exploded in my incubator so I went to throw him out only to find dry feathers. With a drippy yolk I put him back and tried to help the hatching process cause I thought he was stuck. No movement. I pulled the dried membrane till I found his beak. The beak looks pale. Is he a gonner? Did I kill him?

Hi.

Hmm... how many days in the incubation, exactly?

...Touch his body... it is rigid, right? (Looks like that to me...?)
And does he not smell bad?

In my humble opinion : your duckling - sadly - is probably dead.
And if you did not see any movement before putting him back in your incubator, then I think he was already dead.

Sorry.

(But I really am no expert; so I hope I am mistaken AND someone will say I am wrong and your duckling coud still be alive...?!)

I have had pretty much the same experience not long ago : ducklings were entirely developped inside of their eggs, but did not peep or move when I opened the eggs...
...I had then been hoping for them to still be alive, but I was eventually told if they were not moving and peeping, it meant they were dead...
