Stuck in the wire

Last night when I went out to put my adult girls to bed, I was surprised to find this stuck in the wire. Apparently in trying to crawl through the yard, he kinked too big and got stuck. He's a completely harmless bull snake. Here in NM you welcome them cause they eat mice and rodents. They will eat eggs or baby chicks but I have no chicks at this time and the nest boxes aren't reachable by a snake.

He was gone this morning, must have relaxed and crawled through. He was about 4' long.

Looks like he ate something right before he crawled in there. Hopefully it was a rat.

Pretty snake! I would have snipped the wire to let him/ her go... A free pass just this once. A sure ticket through the pearly gates I recon.

Yeah, he does look like he just ate. Probably when whatever he ate was digested, he was able to fit through the wires again.

They are easy to catch in bird netting too but they are northern water snakes( redbellies) and cotton mouths here
