Study on quail habits?

In my "off time", I try to submerse myself in online articles on quail. No so much about the "conservation" of quail habitat, but quail in general. So, imagine my surprise when I did a "google search" on quail studies, and half way down the screen is a link to an article titled, "Cocaine and the sexual habits of quail". I'm not making this up! So, how many quail are out trying to score some coke to get their freak on? How would a quail pay for cocaine??? And they paid these idiots $356k to do this "study"? I'm glad to know that our tax dollars are being put to good use.

This is a potentially valuable study that could teach us something about how cocaine changes behaviors, and the underlying mechanisms of change. It’s definitely not a waste of money.

- Reminds me of the study done by the U of New Hampshire on cow belching and flatulence emitting methane gases. "Not a waste of money"...only to the crackpots who come up with these ideas. For the taxpayers footing these outrageous ventures, it's an unethical practice of throwing away money that people have worked hard for and would rather see put to better use. I'm probably already on the "watch list" anyway.

I'm not hiding anything from the government. The government should focus more of their effort on "known terrorists". If they want to waste their time listening to what I want on my pizza and how much I love my wife, then more power to them.

I agree with James 100%. I think my tax dollars could be better spent than looking to things such as this. What's next...science looking into the effects of eating too much meat?? Don't we know this one already?? Yeah...but I am sure another billion dollar study on this is already in the wings...

Nah, they stopped using straws after the quail started using them in entirely unforeseen and obscene ways during their coke highs - it was affecting the entire operation.
