Anyone else ever garden in a burnt out tree stump? I've been burning this stump out for a couple years by building a brush pile over it and lighting it a couple times a year after its had time to dry out. I regularly treat my compost pile to a dose of wood ask that I keep stored in a tin can out of the rain. I hear it is the potash that helps produce the fruit or flower on a plant. I had plans to throw some fresh compost in this one, but we are moving soon. It was a fairly good sized tree. The hole is about two feet in diameter and as deep. I'm sure it would have made a nice garden spot. I know a few people who have put flowering plants in stumps in the past so I figured why not garden plants.
