We have a Delaware in our flock. She is lethargic, losing feathers, has a wobbly gait when she does get up, has separated herself, for the most part, from the flock, has completely watery poop, will eat but not as interested as she normally is, comb and waddles are pale as well as she has stopped laying. She will be a year old in August.

We have inspected her for ANY sign of lice or mite and found nothing even questionable. Her skin had one barely slightly flaky spot where a couple feathers were missing. She has no discharge from her eyes or nose. She isnt wheezing, coughing or sneezing. The scales on her legs is not lifting or raised. Her crop is not mushy but full and feels normal.

Our chickens are free range (basically). They have a two acre pasture that is fenced but obviously wild birds etc can come and go. She spends most of her time in the coop in the barn wher they can come and go to the pasture freely.

Any ideas?????

What do you feed your flock? Can you feel of her crop first thing in the morning, before she has a chance to eat or drink, and feel if it has emptied or not. Has she laid an egg recently? It can be hard to narrow down what is wrong since she is still young. Reproductive disorders are more common in older hens, but they can occasionally happen in a young hen. Has she always been a healthy chicken? I would look her over for evidence of lice or mites. They can usually be seen under the vent area, but some may be seen under wings or around the neck.

She hasnt recently laid. No sign of mites or lice. Our hens have free range so thye leave the barn somewhere around 5am-ish so no theres no chance to feel her crop before she eats. They eat bugs and grass all day and grain once a day.

Her barely being able to stand is what has me confused along with zero signs if mites or lice.

So yeah maybe internal parasites. :hmm
