Stunted growth

Hey everyone! Looking for some advice. I hatched some seabrights 6 weeks ago. 2 of them seemed to be growing slowly, so I separated them. One of those two (in the back of this photo) seems to be growing still and starting to catch up to the other 4, but the one in this picture doesn’t seem to really be growing. I’ve tried giving it poultry booster supplements. It has plenty of energy, eats and drinks, the whole 9 yards, it just isn’t growing.

I’m due to have a baby in the next month or so, and I’m worried it’s not going to feather out in time for me to put it outside (and I just won’t have the capacity to take care of a house chicken with a newborn 😅)

Any advice on what to do? Or has anyone seen this type of stunted growth before?

Cute chicks!

I think you are doing all that you can.
If you are providing a nutritionally balance chick starter and the chick is eating/drinking active, you'll just have to see how it turns out.
Some chicks can be very slow to develop.

Not sure how your coop/run/housing is set up, but if you have electricity and the weather is getting cold, you could still move the chick outdoors with the brooder plate. Should be fine as long as there's protection from wind/rains. Something to consider anyway.

I had a similar issue with my sebright rooster shortly after I got him. His crop never looked full and the hen was really outgrowing him. Took him to the vet and he had cecal worms. After deworming he improved significantly & has almost caught up to the hen now. I weigh them every week to see how much they improve and they put on about 2 oz a week on average. Not sure why he had the worms and not the hen? He’s doing great now & just started to crow a couple days ago.

Good idea!

Hi! Can you share the deworming treatment?
For Cecal worms, you can use Safeguard (Fenbendazole) at a dose of 0.23ml per pound of weight, given orally once, then repeated in 10 days.
