Stupid CAT!!!

I have two cat litter trays in my kitchen for the girls and socks. When you clean the boxes Queenie will start using one box stop half way and finish in the other clean box coming out with yes I marked both. If the boy uses the box the girls wait out side the door and box his ears on the way out, they are so mean to the big wuss.

I'm curious - Does everyone's cat get along with your chickens? Mine walk next to each other and hang out in the same area. I think my cat actually watches out for my chickens like a guard dog. I was laways worrie dthey would try to eat my ladies but have been delighted with their behavior. Has this been everyone else's situation as well?

Your cat is an old lady at 16...cut her some slack.

I would get her checked out. As other people have posted, cats dont do things like that for no reason. It is doing it because it got upset with something, or its a physical problem like a bladder infection. A freind of mine's cat did the same thing and turned out it had inflammed bowels. Also, a cat that old is going to start having accidents. I had one who would go to the litter box, but not step all the way in, and pee outside the box. I would just have to keep an eye on her, see her going to the box, and push her in a little so she would hit the litter and not the floor. Have her checked out by a vet first before you get mad. And just how bad was the poop? You cant wash the cushion? Good luck.

I have a persian that I am pretty sure thinks he IS a chicken! He eats, sleeps and "free ranges" with them. He'll come in the house occasionally and "lower" himself to let the "caretaker" humans to pet him, and he MIGHT even accept some cat food, but then he's right back out with "his" flock, eating chicken food and sleeping in an empty nesting box when they go to roost at night. I used to really worry that he would hurt or even eat the newbies when I integrate them, but instead he walks around the coop with them like he's showing them the ropes, and he lets them crawl all over him and even roost on his back. This cat was a rescue, so I know little about his history, but I'm convinced he's an escapee from a nefarious government laboratory doing gene swapping experiments - given how fluffy his fur is, I think he's got Silkie genes in him!

Sorry this is happening. What a bummer! If all your litter boxes are clean, and there's NO possibility of a UTI (urinary tract infection, noteable by a very strong urine smell, diagnosed by a urine sample @ the vet's), then I just don't know what to say. We've had incontinent pets in the past (and probably due for more as our pet population ages), and what I did was wrap each couch cushion in a heavy-duty plastic garbage bag, then put the couch cushion cover over that. It worked really well. I certainly wouldn't buy a new couch 'till the problem is resolved!

The cat is old.... just like WE get old and can have messes, animals do too.
I'd give her a break and take her in to the vets to be sure she doesnt have a UTI or something.....

Many times we miss the signs of arthritis in cats until they start having accidents. If it hurts to step into a litterbox or go down the basement stairs to potty, then they find another spot. I would get her checked by a vet or at least add a litterbox close-by if there isn't one.
