My sisters spastic Blue Heeler managed to nose the rabbit door so much that the sliding latch came loose! well she didn't get the bunny out right then but apparently he pushed on his door and it opened and the brat escaped. I am getting so annoyed by this dog, it has NO manners or discipline with other animals. i know its not all her fault & mostly her owners but i am so irritated. it took me forever to find that rabbit and now i have to start looking for a new one!

At least i bred the doe before this happened. i REALLY hope there's a pretty boy in the mutt litter that i have right now.

my mini horses know how to open my rabbit cage. they always steel the rabbits food. when DH gets better we will be fixing the hutch

I am Very much considering making my own cages for them. that way they will have metal latch hooks keeping them closed & they will be higher off the ground.

blue heelers are known to be very very intelligent. If they are not trained and given a "job"..they will find a job and its guaranteed...you wont like that job!

stupid owners make for stupid dogs. I feel for you. I hope you find the rabbit.

you may have to decide and take the responsiblity to train the dog yourself

I HAVE A BLUE HEELER AND SHE IS VERY VERY SMART:) HOWEVER I AM NOT STUPID, SO SHE IS VERY VERY WELL TRAINED...LOL! SHE IS MY WORKING CATTLEDOG, SO SHE WEARS A SHOCK COLLAR AT ALL TIMES ...WONDERFUL INVENTION! SHE IS VERY GOOD WITH THE STOCK AND DOES NOT EAT KITTENS OR BOTHER MY GUINEAS. IN FACT, SHE IS NOT ALLOWED TO CHASE WILD RABBITS, BECAUSE IF SHE IS IN THAT HABIT, SHE WILL DO SO WHEN WORKING. I HAD TROUBLE WITH VISITS NOT LATCHING MY GUINEA HOUSE DOG CORRECTLY, SO IT IS NOW PADLOCKED

:weee . LAZY PEOPLE HAVE ILL-MANNERED DOGS! ....................................................................BY THE WAY NOT SCREAMING MY HAND IS IN A CAST!

Is the rabbit cage outside? If the dog could open it a predator could too. Sounds like you need a more secure cage!

Yeah, it is outside. When i made it it ended up being way too short because i changed my plans right in the middle of building.

to make it more sturdy. i decided that i need to just build my own cages and i will probably sell the hutch. the hutch also has crappy locks on it but i recycled All of the materials, even the screws came form an old fence.

Put them in a shed where the dog can't get to them. Did you find the rabbit? If not there is a possible chance he may have killed it.

If thats the case well, then it should be bye bye doggie.

If a dog can open it, then a racoon can. Lesson's learned, secure the latches. Lash dog owner with wet noodle. A bored untaught and unled cattledog will find something fun to do. Usually people don't like it.
