We went to pick up 5 hens... can't remember what they're called on here but they're the ones that have lived in cages all their lives and were bred for production only. Wanted to give them a good home but I had plans for a few other breeds that I wanted since these are a mix between RIR and WLeghorn, not the prettiest birds. They look horrible too because they're molting and all the feathers on their necks are worn off.
Anyway, hubby decided we needed 12 then the lady have us an extra one so we came home with 13! Now I don't have room for the pretty birds I wanted to get! I'm glad we got the girls because we saved them and all that jazz, but I wanted pretty girls to liven up the color of the flock!

Glad you've rescued these hens. Give them a proper diet and TLC and they'll be beautiful before you know it.

Do you have experience using power tools, like the skill saw and things?

If not do what I do

I have been a stay at home mom, but that meant a lot of work hours for my husband. So I have pretty much learned to fend for myself and can do most of the things around the house, but I have NO experience with the skill saw and things. So when I need something built I just offer to do it myself

It doesn't take my hubby long to put up that new shelter for me, he wants me no where near the power tools

Just wait and see how this summer goes and next spring you can make space and add on to your flock and your coop.
