Stupid question about chicks hatched from hen

Do I have to do anything for the chicks, such as give medication, or feed starter feed? or does momma hen take care? I need to know asap because she had some hatch yesterday

You should feed them medicated chick starter. Given that you've hatched them, they won't have been vaccinated for Cocci.

Put the chick feeder and water in with momma and the babies. She'll show them what to do!

give them chick starter feed and water in a container where they can't drown. when chicks are with a hen the hen "teaches" the chicks but she can use some help at first with the feed and water containers.

Don't forget to put some marbles, or rocks in the waterer to take up some space so the babies can't fall in and drown.

That's a very good question - i had one chick hatch last spring and she did awsome until late last fall - all of a sudden her legs were paralyzed and after 3 weeks of antibiotics, we finally had to cull her. i think it may have been Mereks, but don't know for sure. i think that if I had vacinated her for cocci and Mereks that she would still be alive - but don't know. i don't know what to do if another hen gets broody, but may need to vacinate the chicks.
