Stupid question about something simple

I used black locust posts and no screw would go in without breaking off. The hammered in staples worked beautifully. They are almost idiot proof. You could hold the staple with pliers so you don't hit your hand with the hammer and once it is in pretty good finish pounding without the pliers. Otherwise I am a huge fan of screws and washers as my coop is put together by those.

I'm borrowing this thread and asking "Does anyone have a quick pic of the screw/washer method"? I am going to start on this in a few weeks and would appreciate an example to look at... also, how far apart should they be from one another? Thanks guys.

My husband said a staple gun is strong enough as long as the staple gun is big enough to hold the hardware cloth..that is what he used to put up my hardware cloth...all I know although others had good ideas that is what he used was a staple gun..and is holding very very good and tight..

If you have a pneumatic staple gun with 1.5" staples they work great. The crown is about 1/8" across. does a fantastic job. Otherwise you need to use the staples previously mentioned. Be sure they are galvanized. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowes and most feed stores.
