My 13 year old asked.

Is it possible for chickens to have "twins"?

I came to the conclusion that it would take two chicks growing in the same egg, which would likely lead to the death of both (space wise) but then I remembered that double yolk eggs are usually larger than their single yolk counterparts.

So... is it possible?

I love the way kids think...and there questions would never cross an adults mind even if they are something simple.

I am waiting for this answer too.

yes. Do a search...there is a video of a successful double-yolker hatch on youtube. Just yesterday we finished up watching another BYC member who was trying to hatch a double-yolker, but sadly they didn't make it.

Well, I'll be. I guess it IS possible.

I'll have to tell him I was wro.....

Errrr...... Nevermind.

Never tell your 13-year-old you were wrong!

Just say, "Hey, I learned something new!"
