This is for sharing stupid things people say or do. Kind of like the "dumbest things people say about your eggs and chickens" thread but this thread is in broad general terms as long as you obey the g rating and BYC rules.

One is a family member got on my case because I was going to college for the first time after about 12 or so years after high school and I chose to go back because I was either turned down for higher paying jobs for one reason or another and didn't want another low paying dead end job.
Aunt "you know you can make more money working at (local factory) than by going to school right?
me "but they turned me down and told me not to think about re-applying for 2 more years"
A "but you can make more money working there than by going to school"
M "but they wouldn't hire me
A but they will pay you more than going to school and getting a different job with a degree
M but they won't pay me one thin dime for at least 2 years if they choose to hire me then
A but you can make more money there
M so you are saying a place that won't let me work for them will pay me more money than somewhere else that may hire me, even tho (name of factory) won't give me a penny or the time of day for at least 2 years
