Well to cut a long story short I did a house swap with a lady who lives a field across from me (we live in the country), that so close that on a still quiet day I could hear her cockerels crowing. Well in discussions before we moved she asked if she could leave the 14 hens, I said yes that is fine I will take care of them but she had 8 cockerels and I said (I might get shot down for saying this but hey ho) I would shoot all the cockerels apart from the best one and introduce a new cock as they would be related as they were from the hens and I wanted to keep the flock healthy. She said, yes, that was fine.

A week before the move she decided she was taking all the hens and cocks with her, again I said that was fine I was happy either way. THEN she decided she was going to take the hens (baring in my mind the garden isn't really big enough to house half a dozen hens correctly never mind 14) with her and releasing the cock's a mile or so away, YES THAT'S RIGHT just chucking them out and leaving the poor buggers to starve to death, die of exposure or get eaten alive because my dog's might get them, yes my dog used to kill next doors birds that used to come in to my garden but she was never broken to them and had no need to be as the little buggers would eat my plants and the neighbour's were fine with that. I didn't say anything as, well, it wasn't my business what the stupid woman decided to do with her chickens and to be honest she changes her mind as often as she changes her knickers and I just wanted the house swap over and done with.

So the day of the house swap came and she ever so cleverly decided to try and catch all the hens and cocks the night before which she did apart from two little black ones and two, what I call, normal brown hens (hybrid I think) which I presumed she would come back for....nope she just left them with no hut, no food, no water, no run to keep them safe so I gave them a bit of old bread I had for the night and sadly the two brown ones were got by a fox that night. A few days passed and two cockerels arrived who completely destroyed the beautiful strawberry plants I had been nurturing for months which I was very annoyed at and I thought surely they can't have found their way back this quickly......the stupid woman had just let them out at the end of the road as I saw two more wondering beside the road just yesterday.

Such cruelty! Only one little black hen is left now, who appeared after a few days of not seeing her, out of the four hens and two cockerels and she is getting ever so scraggy and desperate, before she would run as soon as I came out the door but she didn't move this morning and I gave her some more whole meal bread as it is all I have, hopefully I can gain her trust and catch her before Mr Fox gets to her, wish her luck :)

Woman, I love you! LOL! Your jargon is so cute.
As to the serious part of the problem, call animal control this very minute (or the police). Cruelty to animals is illegal.

love you to haha. I am from the UK, not sure of the Law's over here but I know the police wont bother but maybe the RSPCA will?
