I am not sure which forum this question should go on but here goes: Fowls ,(from my peas all the way down to cortunix), love to peck at Styrofoam and small pieces help lighten the soil. It's like it is a game for them. It gives them something to do. Are there any ill effects from fowl ingesting Styrofoam? I would think not, but maybe someone has more information.

They will be fine..
I have never herd of any ill effects from fowl ingesting Styrofoam.

Just think of it as "treats"

It is about as nutrious as many that are commonly applauded and perhaps less harmful than others.

Mine found a small area on our garage door and by the time I came home they had the whole bottom of it destroyed and all are still around. They love it.

Styrofoam is a favorite treat of mine! Stupid chickens. They had a hay day when I first put them in the coop. They didn't have any ill effects from it. We have random Styrofoam that blows around our property. I try to keep it cleaned up but they still find it and eat it as soon as they can so I don't take it away. They will be fine. Don't you hate it that chickens will eat anything they get a hold of?

I would avoid letting them eat anything that is not food if it is possible to avoid. It might not hurt them but why feed it to them if it is not food. Styrofoam might not hurt me but I would never eat it. That is my personal belief. If you have no qualms about eating styrofoam, I guess you can feel good about feeding it to your chickens too.

I understand what you are saying but, Rocks are not food and we still let chickens "eat" them in the form of grit.
