Update - She, not he, lol, made a full recovery! I also found this diagram that shows air sacks.

Glad to hear that she is better. Was it just injury or was there any infection present?

There was no infection, so I guess it was an injury, but maybe a defect?

You amaze me with all you do! Thank you for being willing to take the time to share so much of what you know with the rest of us! The wonder dust is working great on Nelda's neck. She's back to eating and drinking and the black moldy spots have healed up because of the switch to the dusting powder. I am glad to read your posts always... keep sharing!

I'm so happy to hear that... and that they still make that stuff, lol.

Very educational! Thank you for sharing. Probably helped people that don't even know they're going to be dealing with this same problem yet! Thank you for posting!

    Hi!
I know this is an older thread, but I was searching and searching and stumbled upon this very informative thread. From the info provided here I think this may be my chick's problem.

I'm wondering if I should do something for this chick, or if I should just wait and see how it goes. I'm wondering what signs I'm watching for and at what point it becomes serious.

The chick is 8 days old now, the biggest of the hatch and eating and drinking just fine. The spot on its rear isn't getting any smaller.

Here's a link to my original post with pictures and more info if you're able to help.

    Thanks so much!
