I have a 3.5mo female white layer whose behavior I just can’t figured out. She’s OBSESSED with my female pilgrim goose who is around the same age but they weren’t brooder together. I thought they were just friends then it started escalating. Every morning I let out the geese first, then the ducks. The WL (pinkie) is first out and runs to pebbles (F pilgrim) and lays down and stretches her neck out. Then she follows pebbles around for the rest of the day bobbing her head up and down. There are lots (too many, 8) of other drakes in the duck flock but they are 2.5 months old welsh harlequins and have shown no breeding behaviors or fighting or anything like that.
Just now I saw pinkie in the kiddie pool with pebbles and she was doing her “morning thing” in the water and I was like “hmmmm…”
I guess there’s no harm however Bam Bam, our Pilgrim gander sometimes gets a little annoyed with Pinkie being around pebbles and I’m worried he’ll hurt her (not sexual, territorial). I’ve caught her letting him bite and noodle her aggressively and she just takes it. Maybe she’s hoping that he will breed her if pebbles doesn’t? Do I wait it out? Can I do something for her? She hasn’t started laying. There’s no point in getting an adult drake as I have 6 sexually immature hens in addition to pinkie.
