My hen has gone broody, but i cant get day old babies or fertile eggs (we have no roosters) can i use something to replicate a baby chick? Or will that not be good for her?

Do you want chicks? If so, contact your feed store for some possible leads on other Crazy Chicken Ladies.... I did that once when I was in your situation, and really got some great chickens out of that. I called up a total stranger and said, "hello, I am ........, and I heard that you have chickens and might have fertilized eggs...." We both laughed. Or there are eggs on here for sale.

If you don't want chicks you have 2 choices, let her sit, and eventually she will quit, but some stick it out for a very long time, and it can pull down their health. Or you can break her, if you have a wire cage, dip her in cool water getting her belly and feet wet, then put her in a wired cage with NO bedding, feed and water..... wait for two or three days, or until she lays.

However, breaking her may not last a long time..... especially this time of year.

I've given folks fertile eggs for their broody hens. I see folks advertising on Craigslist from time to time in your situation.
