So, my husband and I took off for a few days to the coast to get away from the heat, and left our 2 daughters (ages 18 and 20) in charge of the household. I have 7 chicks that are about 2 weeks old that I have in a small coop of their own. On the day we were due to come home, my oldest calls and says "The chicks have all disappeared! I can't find them anywhere!" yada, yada. . . When we got home I went out and sure enough, they were all gone without a trace. However, I noticed that a squirrel had dug under the cement around the coop, so I filled in the hole (after making sure the chicks weren't in it) and went on about my day. Later on, I heard a bunch of cheeping so I went down to the coops and there were 3 of the 7 chicks doing their thing in the coop. I also noticed that the squirrel hole was dug out again, so I went checked it out, then filled it in again. Later that evening, I went out to check, and 2 more of the chicks had shown up, and the hole was open again. Ok, this time I know that that hole has something to do with the chicks disappearing and reappearing, but I still can't figure out how, until I realize that there might be a den of sorts attached to the hole. I started calling, and I'll be darned if I didn't hear cheeping from what sounded like deep inside the earth! Eventually, the other 2 chicks came out of the hole, so all 7 are accounted for. Right now they are back in their brooder in the house until I get a chance to add more cement around the coop. Is this weird, or what????

Too funny. Glad you got them back.

Imp- Now you can say they were raised from the grave.

You could name them after the cast members of "The Great Escape"

Imp- I think you win the best story of the day award.
