These are the 4 that hatched yesterday. The darker shelled olive egger has pipped & the remaining marans is in the final stretch of unzipping so we brought the 4 in for a bit since mama keeps hopping of the nest to go after the little adventurers.

We lost one of the marans :hit It got stuck in the membrane I guess. When I found it the shell was mostly cracked off the body but a bit was stuck to one side of it's head & the membrane was dry/hard around it's body. Yolk sac was fully absorbed though. So we're at 5 of 12 hatched & 4 live chicks. The 4 chicks are starting to get adventurous & exploring a bit.
Sorry you lost one of the babies. :,( Poor little guy! Kudos for the successfully hatched cuties though :) They are so adorable!

The marans & olive egger successfully hatched & all 6 chicks snuggled in with mama for the night. I will have to bring the chicks inside tomorrow again to keep mama on the nest while we wait for the remaining 5.

Well, float tested the remaining 5 this morning since there were no pips & all floated but no movement & seem to be what I've seen described as "yolkers". Candled & then eggtopsied 2 easter egger eggs & they were complete duds :hit

Sorry the baby died... :'( I'm glad the others are doing well, though.
