(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I’m not new to chickens and my partner isn’t new to ducks, but it’s our first time owning both, plus some quail.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
6 chickens (4 ducks, 5 quail)
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Easter eggers
Mint cream bar
Appenzeller
Chocolate Orpington bantam
Silkie cuteness
(2 jumbo pekin, 1 Rouen (?) & 1 khaki Campbell(?) & 5 bobwhites)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They’re the most adorable things ever. But I also have a massive garden (removed front side and backyard for gardens and coops), and they’re my little helpers. Also, eggs! I grew up working on a ranch in the summers and this is super comforting for me
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, writing, video games, walks
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have three dogs
and are homebodies who just love working our tiny suburban fortress land into a sanctuary.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Most times we wanted help with something starting in January, we were directed here so I’ve finally joined.
