Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

No, I am not currently under this line of storms.
Yes, I think it fair to say that the FL Panhandle/Wiregrass area is getting "damp".

Not showing on current radar, it was mist to light rain beginning about 3am, and hasn't stopped. Doubt I will need to water the gardens this week. ;)

A couple years ago, my neighbor thought she might get a goat. I think/hope she's forgotten about that idea. I would have to have a very serious talk with her if she gets one.

They don't/can't keep their chickens in the run. A goat on the loose would be a HUGE issue. Michigan is a "fence in" state.

Hahahahahahahahhaaahaahaahaahahaahahhaahahahaha! no.

I have set about 50 fence posts, unstrung a bunch of others, hung 330' of fencing. I should be able to accomplish more in a day, but there are so many competing priorities I can't focus on the fencing. Will get more erected this weekend.

Oh, and I'm uing the tractor to clear a new path for the fence first, so in addition to setting tposts, unrolling, tensioning, hanging and securing the fencing, I'm also pushing a 12-15' wide path thru the forest, removing trees, stumps, roots as I go and somewhat levelling the clearing after. Some shade tolerant grass seed will (eventually) follow.

I did get 50# of brown top millet down, 50# of fescue, and about 50# of mixed forage grasses - orchard, clover, bahia, perennial rye, trace amounts of others. Didn't lime or fertilize, will see how it goes w/ last spring's liming. Will almost certainly have to lime again next year (I'm supposed to put down 800# twice a year - so if I'm B*&(%ing come Fall, remind me that "i knew better, and chose not to anyways".

Im surprised you have to lime, I would think most of that is pretty hardy and wiling to grow in most soil types! (I know nothing of large scale farming)
Our neighbors new calves keep escaping his fence, he replaced about half of it last year and of course they found the gap in the old. Fortunately they are only getting into another of his pastures atm, so hopefully nothing happens.
