We had a pretty bad mite infestation. 2 of our older hens had died, and the rest stopped laying before we figured out what to do. The broody hen even got off the nest, and they were all trying to roost on top of the house. Gary even stopped crowing. We went all out. Sevin dusted all chickens (easier than I though it would be), removed all the bedding and cleaned out the inside of the coop. Disassembled the whole thing (glad I did cause there were millions of mites under the insulation, that spraying and dusting would never have gotten to) sprayed it with liquid sevin. We layed out a DE dust bath for them as well. One day later, Gary is his old self again and their combs are pretty and red again. We will repeat the dusting again in a week. If they could, I am sure they would all say a big thank you.
