Running one 40 watt bulb to extend light 5-10pm and again 5-10am. Seems to be working and the birds are happy so far. Consistently 32-40 degrees now in the barn (and holding SIGH), getting 15+ eggs daily!! Got fingers crossed winter is kind, just a few inches snow so far:weebut its still November!

Nice! Mine are finally starting to lay again after their first molt. I keep Christmas lights in the coop for the hens and that gives them enough light to continue laying.

How old are your birds, in weeks or months?

We have 6 white leghorns 8 mos old, 6 red comets 25 weeks old, and 4 americauna that are 20 weeks. They share a sizeable coop built inside a big barn so are quite spoiled. I spend a lot of time babysitting in the yard when out exercising because the hawks are terrible right now.
