Crowing
For the last couple weeks when I have put my littlest duckling and chick outside for the day in a section of their own, the other side of the chicken wire was my older ducks (about a month and half 2 months old) who are with my other two chicks (same age) and on the side fence I have my older chickens, so they can all see each other and get to know each other.
My older ducks was fascinated with these new little guys, little Gabby my rouen she would actually shake like an excited dog, she would try to boop them through the fence, if one of little ducks would run the older ducks would just start running around too.
Now, I did introduce them carefully while I was holding them, but they were still to little and they grabbed at them with their bills little too rough and would just run them right over at full speed
So today was the day. My ducklings are a little bigger they have seen each other for awhile now.
I placed them in the pen with the bigger ducks, Zeke my black runner, Gabby my rouen, and Pippa my Caygua (which I have questions about actually) and Louie my Rouen.
At first I was nervous, they did corner them a little and a lot of checking them out with their bills, but like a little rougher than I would of liked, would interfere the first few times, then success!!!
They have we in the same pen all day, Gabby and Zeke sometimes will wrap her neck around one of the little ones body to gently and say that's my area, thats my piece of grass, etc. a few light boops on the butt now and then but it went great, I opened the fence so I could clean and they all went out right in a row. stuck together
