Since plywood comes in 8 ft. sheets, I'd go with a 4 x 8 at least...no wasted material. Until two weeks ago (when I added a rooster), my 5 girls lived in a 6 x 8, and I WISH I'd gone ahead and done an 8 x 8. You'll never regret building bigger.
