We recently got 6 chicks. 2 Plymouth rocks, (partridge rocks), two gold star and two black star. After four days one of the black star chicks died. It had seemed okay except it had a bit of diarrhea. When we came home today, one of the gold star chicks was lying under the waterer! Some chicks would stand on it and it didn't do anything, but when we picked it up, it started chirping and when we set it down, it ran into the dog kennel where they live and started walking around! I want to help it, but I cannot find anything describing anything like that! I am worried because this is my first chick-raising experience and I don't want them to die! Please Help!

They did not have pasty butt. I checked after the first one got diarrhea. One of the gold stars had something sticking out, though... And the black star was seeming to be sick before it died... They do have a space for heat and one for cool. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hello all,
Our family is new to this forum. We have 6 hens 3 RI reds and 3 NC reds all named sweetie and darling and one rooster named Thunder. We also have 14 new chicks that will probably start laying in June ; )

I do have a concern with one of my hens. She is pretty much lethargic and laying down all day long. She has been seperated from the group. I don't know if she has an egg stuck/broken inside her. She doesn't want to move. I gave her a bath 2 nights in a row and she drank the warm water in the bath and ate some bugs that flew in the bath and some grass. But other than that she seems to have taken a turn for the worse and is lifeless. Any advice would be great. I'd hope she is not suffering : (

Thanks everyone baaaacaaawwww!!

Post this under the "Emergencies, disease section". You'll get more help there.
Good luck and welcome.
