A few hours ago my Silkie chick died. She was perfectly healthy yesterday and hadn't had any problems. I found her barely able to keep her eyes open. I put electrolytes in the water and quarantined her. She wasn't able to keep her balance so I wrapped her up in a towel. She slept for a while and frequently woke up peeping. Eventually, she had to keep her beak open to breath. She also twisted her neck around a few times. Later she started twisting and turning as if she was having a seizure and then died. I have no idea what disease she could have gotten; I have never had anything like this ever happen to my chickens. Since I got the chicks last week, they have all been healthy and doing well. What could this be? I need to make sure that none of the other chickens are in danger of contracting this disease.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
