Hello,

One of my runner ducks has died today - It was absolutely fine yesterday, I noticed it was a bit off middle of the day today so separated it and came inside to make it some scrambled egg. By the time I went back outside it had died.

I have 4 other ducks and 16 chickens all together so want to try to get to the bottom of it.

Yesterday my husband put some brassicas with an infestation of cabbage white caterpillars in there and the ducks ate them all. Could that have poisoned them? There were hundreds of caterpillars but he googled first and thought they were safe. Now it seems unclear if they may have done this.

Thanks for any help.

I agree, not the caterpillars. I used to raise and sell butterflies, caterpillars that are toxic get it from what they eat for example Monarch butterfly caterpillars eat milkweed which is toxic.
