Went out this am to find my 3 yr old Buff dead in her coop. No obvious injury, had been out in the yard worming and scratching the day signs of illness. Moved 4 new chicks into the coop 2 weeks ago but other than that nothing different. Was supervised outside so deidn't get into anything bad. My question is there anything I should look for, worry about with the new babies (8weeks), or is sudden chicken death just that? Her 3 year Buff sister is heartbroken and keeps calling for her

I would certainly keep an eye on the other birds- but a "sudden death" in a 3 year old, is not completely unexpected. She could have had a heart attack, or a number of other issues. Sorry for your loss. Good luck!
