Sudden death of 10mo old Pekin!

I always do a necropsy through my vet. The more time passes since the death the less accurate necropsy is. I recommend calling your vet immediately. They'll let you know if they have time, if they want you to put the body in the fridge, the cost, ect.
Put a call into the vet, and they do do them! Waiting for a call back from the Dr. For specifics, thank you!!
 
Welcome to BYC, So sorry for your loss. :( My guess is that the leg issues with Buddy was from a Niacin deficiency in his diet. This is a very common issue with the larger breeds of ducks and can easily be addressed when they are ducklings to help prevent leg issues as they grow.

If you do a search you will find all kinds of valuable information about Niacin deficiency in ducks. Best of luck. :)
I appreciate the info on using Niacin, I only wish we had known sooner. 😔
