I don't know what happened she was fine then I found her laying on her belly with her head down and her red comb and waddles were pale her color was gone she couldn't stand up then she sqwacked
Flapped her wings I picked her up again trying to see if I could help then she just died she was gone so fast I don't know what happened no visible wounds she's a free range chicken with 8 others everyone else is fine there was no illness

I'm sorry for your loss.

Unfortunately there is no way to know for sure what happened without a necropy/testing.

Since it was so sudden, she may have had organ failure like a heart attack. Some people are able to open up their own chicken and give everything a look to see if they can find anything obvious or you could send her to your state lab.

If by any chance you have another pass in the same manner in a short period of time, then trying to find the cause would be a good idea.

Thank you. I live in the city and this is my first time with chickens I see them as pets I thought about cutting her open to see if u could see any thing but this is all new to me so I probably wouldn't know what I was looking at. I'll keep in mind about sending one in if it happens again it was very sad and sudden she was fine earlier in the day
