I know what your going through i've lost 3 chickens this week, who were seemed fine before. And one of my ducks i raised from 4 weeks died in the night. The remaining one has done nothing but caal for it all day. It's heartbreaking to watch and hear.

I'm sorry your chicken died. When you get her a friend, have them meet on neutral ground rather than in the Orp's pen. It doesn't matter what size.

thanks. i have introduced 2 slightly younger ones that are not fully grown. the one that died was the dominant one and was very protective of the other one. im trying to teach her that she is three times there size and so therefore she is the boss. but alas she is more scared of them than they are of her. but they do seem to be getting used to each other. i introduced 2 so they wouldnt get picked on. there all submissive birds so there are no problems with fighting. she still calls for her sister though. ):
