I lost one of my hens yesterday. The story goes as follows. She was nesting more than two months ago, but there was no success to become a mother due to my stupidity. Now a few days ago she decided to give it another go. We found her dead yesterday, and what was strange was the fact that many feathers were missing in her abdomen area. Any idea on what may went wrong?

    Thanx a lot in advance

A broody hen will pull her own breast feathers, which gives better contact between her and her eggs. Occasionally a broody eats and drinks so little that she dies of this. Of course she could have had some internal, unrelated problem, a tumor or heart problem or the like.
