My rooster Little Richard died yesterday He was not able to stand and trembling when I found him In less than 2 hours he was dead Earlier this year he got sick with the same symptoms but recovered in a few days My hens don't seem to be affected Any one have any idea what might have caused this I think he was about 2 years old Thanks for the help

1 veteran 1 dog 9 hens 1 very old cat

We are going to need a bit more info. A list of all his symptoms, what he was eating, age/weight, health history, etc.

I think Richard was about two years old when I purchased him and three hens All were supposed to be less than a year old I found him laying on his side He could not stand, would not eat or drink and was shaking I separated him from the others and in about 2 hours he was dead and very stiff This happened to him earlier this year He did recover but it took about a week for him to get better Both times he stopped crowing Thanks

Was the shaking a seizure?

Generally when a youngish roo dies suddenly it is heart related. Your description of his death does not have the classic signs of this, though.

I am sorry, but I have no idea how he could have passed.

Sorry for your loss.

Thank you, I appreciate your info I've done more reading but didn't find out much more I'm thinking because it happened before and the hens have not been sick, it was something going on with him Hard to figure because both times it was very sudden
