Sudden hen death

I thought of coccidiosis, but there was no blood in her poop, and other than general lethargy, she had no symptoms. She had a good appetite (very full crop at death), and her eyes were clear. Additionally, in the necropsy, there were no signs of internal bleeding. To my understanding, that's how coccidiosis kills chickens - correct?

yes.

I think fatty liver disease may be a possibility. I had only one case of that, and the fatty layer was 1.5 inches thick or more, there was yellow ascites fluid, and mine did have a blood clot under the liver. My hen’s liver was tan and was not the same. The state vet pathologists look at the organs, and also will take tissue samples for testing and bacterial cultures. That is the best way to confirm a disease. It probably would be good to change the diet to mostly layer feed, and cut out treats.
