Came home today, checked the flock and found a dead hen. They were all fine and eating normally yesterday, and there were no signs of sickness before. Theyre all just under a year old, no previous issues. She was laying fine. We found her in the coop laying below a roosting bar, in an enclosed, raised box, not on the ground or in the run. The rest of the flock is acting fine, and I know I could be caused by a million things. I'm just a little upset and wondering if any of you could have any ideas.
Thanks. :hit

The good news is that sudden death in chickens is generally not caused by an infectious entity. Congenital problems, heart problems, fatty liver, and the list goes on and on can be the cause of sudden, unexpected death.
