Sudden tiny egg?

we have a year and a half year old Welsummer hen who has suddenly laid two eggs (about 2 weeks apart) that are about 1/4 the normal size of her regular eggs. Has anyone else had a hen do this? The eggs look like tiny little golf balls!

Our year and a half old red sex links did the same thing over the summer - I got two or three "fart" size eggs at different times. I don't worry about it - I figure egg laying probably isn't an exact science for them all the time.

Have you cracked them open yet to see if there's a yolk?

We were too scared by them to crack them open...well not really but we were kind of so amazed by them we did not want to crack them. I will though and see if there is a yolk. I was just worried that maybe our hen was sick, she had a bad patch about 8 months ago and so we are more worried about her than the other girls.
