Suddenly Dead Chicken

I am not saying this is the case (just an FYI) but prolonged electrolyte use can lead to kidney issues. I do it in the summer as well but also provide fresh plain water. Unless I’m doing Corid I always offer a doctored water whether that be ACV, vitamins or electrolytes and a plain water. That way they have a choice. I haven’t had to do it where I live now but when I lived in Utah I would occasionally add something in the summer.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's always disheartening to find one of our flock deceased without obvious cause. You didn't do anything wrong necessarily and you can drive yourself crazy second guessing yourself. The remaining flock will go through an adjustment period for about a week or two as they rework the hierarchy.
Even during the hottest time of our summer, when it was 118 heat index, I only supplied electrolytes for no more than two consecutive days just as a boost. Otherwise, it's just cool fresh water refreshes several times a day during hot weather.
Thank you. I have been doing the water refresh as well and trays to cool their feet. But like you said, I will probably drive myself crazy trying to figure out why my girl passed. When I do electrolytes, I mix them with fruit and water and make ice cubes. That way I know they will eat it... I stopped that a while back as it has not been crazy hot here this year.
