My beautiful 15 month old blue egg laying araucana suddenly started laying thin shelled eggs on the roost. She had been laying perfect eggs very regularly for the last 9 months. No changes in anything this free ranging bird is getting: organic layer pellets, scratch and sunflower seeds, free choice oyster shell. Isn't it weird that she would suddenly do this? It has been going on for 4 weeks. No other symptoms. thoughts?

They go through various changes, any sign of a moult? If she's getting big, check leg growth especially, her calcium demands may be escalating. If she is healthy in every other way I'd skip all foods but layer pellets fro a while because she may not be eating those in favor of seeds and could have a slight nutritional imbalance...

...adding that corn in the summer may be a bad thing- makes them hotter and is low in protein for layers...
