Good morning all, one of my youngest hens (1 year and some change) passed away rather suddenly this morning.
Yesterday we noticed her lethargic and wasn't eating but drinking ALOT. Picked her up and water poured out of her beak (didn't even try to make her throw up). It smelled foul so we figured sour crop.
Isolated her, gave her some ACV and ordered some antifungal. Her poops were very runny, green, and smelly.

Fast forward to today, she's dead. She had a very dark green discharge coming from her nose. I unfortunately didn't think to get a picture before I buried her as I was rather rushing since this was all before work.

Now she had no other symptoms. Nothing respiratory related. And I haven't noticed any of my other girls acting like that.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks

Sorry for your loss. If you still have her body, chill it but don’t freeze it, and get a necropsy. Your state vet lab may offer a necropsy for a backyard bird. Some people also will open the abdominal cavity, and look at the major organs for anything unusual. If you do that, take some pictures to post here of the liver, intestines, oviduct, gizzard, and others. Crop stasis and disorders can be common, and usually there is another reason. Let us know what is found. Here is a list of state vets to contact yours:

Here is a video of a vet necropsy with organs labeled if you do your own:

So I called and they stated that since I had buried her and we're having a heatwave, by the time they'd be able to get the body, it wouldn't be in a good enough condition to get enough information.

However the vet did say that if I have another die then call right away and they'll pick up the body. Also said if anyone had symptoms, they'll come swab everyone.
