I'm new to chickens, so please forgive me in advance.

I'm setting up a scalding station. I've found several propane single burners. They range from 57,000BTU ($49) to 200,000 ($88). I plan on using a enameled steel pot and a thermometer. Sometimes it gets to freezing here in Oregon.

My question is do I need to spend $88 or can I get away with the $49 unit?

Here are links to the products:
$49
$88

Thanks

The cooker I use has the same burner as the $49 one. Not only will it heat water to 150 F for scalding chickens, it will deep fry a 16 lb turkey at 350 F, or fish or whatever you want to cook. Having a wind block does help in cooler temperatures.
