Sugar Water for Mail Order Chicks

I have an order from Ideal coming in on Wednesday & the video I watched suggested that for mail order chicks, sugar water was a good idea. I have another order coming in on Friday too! With duckies!

What is the sugar water ratio? I have one of the plastic waterers that has the red base. How much sugar should I put in.

I don't know if you care but I heard that it's better to use molasses because it's more natural, so I only know that ratio. It's 1 Tablespoon molasses for a gallon waterer.

Doesn't the molasses tend to flush them out? What about Karo syrup?
