ok, so I posted on Craigslist

Sandhills Preservation assorted Leghorn breeding pairs. Light brown leghorns, Dark brown Leg horn, Barred leghorn and exchequer leghorn breeding pairs with a point of lay matching hen. $25. I posted pictures of the roosters. I am so hoping I can sell two pair. Three would be fantastic.

We will see if I get any bites. Today, one of the rooster was chasing the chicks. I will separate them tonight from the flock - just way too much testosterone.

Good luck.
Is each pair $25?

Well that is what I posted. I have never done craigslist before. I did see ISA browns on there for sale for $20 each. They were one year old.

These would be point of lay pullets + matching rooster. So I am hoping to sell at least two pair. 3 pair would be fantastic.

$25 is not very much. I would do at least $30 per breeding pair.

POL pullets are the most wanted kind of chickens, IMHO.

Obviously, it depends on the current rates in your area.

If people are selling 1 Year old Isa’s for $20 a piece, I’d do at least 30 for your POL pullet and cockerel pair.

Just my 2 cents.

People tell you all the time, they want to get into chickens, so I have thrown out some feelers...but not a lot of takers. I have bought on craigslist, but never sold on craigslist... so we will see. If I could sell 3-4 pair, I would have more than broke even, for my start up costs, and a couple of bags of feed.

The roosters are getting randy, so I am going to try and box some up tonight and put in the old coop/run.

If I get rid of them, then the tension should fall, and I can wait a bit longer to see what I want to go in to the winter with.
