Turkeys eat a lot, because they are bigger. A turkey will forage, but unless you have a lot of acreage with a lot of bugs and grasshoppers, they cannot get all of their food from foraging. Geese forage a lot more and eat a lot of grass and insects and require very little additional feed. mine call the ducks to dinner when they see me with a bag of feed and patiently wait until the ducks have eaten most of the feed before they start eating. They have very good manners. Turkeys, on the other hand, are very curious and want to be in on everything, especially food. What you raise depends on what you like to eat. you can raise a 5# after processed chicken, or a 7# ap duck, a 10# ap goose or a 35# ap turkey, the feed will reflect in the size at processing time. Why not raise a few of each and see what you prefer? Or have a selection of all of them for your freezer?Do turkeys eat more than geese???
