Suggestions for protecting wooden coop?

I used stain that matched the house color. I don’t know why. It’s looking a little sad. A good 15-20 year paint will work perfectly and you’ll never look back.

Ah, I see the before and after.
You could avoid the poop all over the beam above the door and top of wall if you block it off so they use the roosts
Just put some mesh up there, attached to top of wall and rafters above.

I used exterior solid stain on mine, and it looks fine. It's less likely to peel, which I like.

I like exterior stain too. I've also used barn paint which lasts a long time.
