Yea the look of this fence and my property is just another thing thats in the back of my mind.
We own 5 acres and the property is really set up for breeding horses. Its all fenced and crossed fenced with a three rail wood fence that also has horse wire in it to protect the foals. About three quarters of this one side has no fence at all, its just woods. Im guessing that their house is about 150 feet in from the property line but Im really not sure because you cant see it from the property line. Any fence that I put up for the birds will look different than the rest of the fence on the property in order for it to work correctly (In other words, no rails). What Im leaning towards doing is putting a fence up just on my side of the property line then letting the grass and brush grow up about three feet or so in front of it to try and hide the fence some what in the woods. My property is cleared to the property line and their property is all wooded. Im going to have to play with it a little and see how much land Ill loose without cutting any trees down. The trees are some really nice old pines and oaks. To make matters worst
all my blue berry bushes, black berry bushes, and raspberry bushes as well as a couple of navel orange tree are all planted right on my side of the property line against the wood line. So in order to keep them Ill have to also replant all of them as well.
I guess what frustrates me the most with all this is that this is not just a simple put up a fence and its a fixed kind of deal. There is going to be a ton of work involved in putting up a fence just so we can enjoy having chickens walking around my yard and that theres really no guarantee that a fence will keep them off my neighbors property. Ive already spent close to 4 grand building a coop/run and now this
.I guess Its just not what I had envisioned when I set out on this journey.

Yea, I read that in the above post also....that just may be the easiest solution to all this.
Thanks both of you for that idea....
